High School Stats:
G. Murph's had a sensational high school career beginning and ending as one of the all time greatest players to come out of Sutherlin High School. G. Murph was a 3yr Varsity starter and was their Team Captain and Team MVP during his tenure. He lead all players in total votes to grasp a 3rd All-League roster spot in 1992, a year in which he was also 2nd in League MVP voting.
He helped lead the Bulldogs to 2 State
Tournament berths and has a career average of a double-double per game (18.6ppg
11.2rpg.) His other high school career stats and school records include,
50% 3pt shooting PCT in 1992, Single game scoring mark of 42pts in 1992,
Sportsmanship Award in 1992, Awarded the Business Student of the Year in 1990 as
well as the Distinguished Service Award in 1992, and was his elected to Student
Body President in 1992.
College Stats:
Unbelievable as it may sound, G. Murph did not play at the immediate college level. Although this high school standout had various offers from Division I schools, he decided not to play and focus on earning a degree in Business Management, which he did in 1996. "I always saw myself as a front office kind of guy. I enjoy playing the game I love, but I love being the VP of Operations for the CMB as well."
After a minor preseason stint with GFU Bruins, Murph decided to explore his other career options and forego the regular season there. While remaining the consummate practice player and shooting coach for his college roommate, J. Legend, Murph sought out to become the best NBA front office man he could be.
While helping establish the league presence of The Cash Money Brothers in 1993. He also landed a starting spot on the teams roster. Murph soon got his love of playing back and became one of the most dominate forces in league history leading the CMB to 3 division titles, 3 conference titles and 3 finals championships. During that span he also captured, 3 League MVP titles, 2 Defensive Player of the Year titles and one All-Star MVP title during his tenure.
Murph still holds collegiate marks for rebounds in a game with 31, most assists in a single game with 24, and is tied for most triple doubles in a season with 17. His 16.8rpg and 11ast per game averages rank him number one on both lists in university history.
Pro Stats:
Starting right were he left of in college, Murph came into the league dominating from the get go by winning Rookie of the Year in 1993, posting numbers of 14.5ppg, 9.8rpg and 6.6apg as a rookie, Murph was voted to the Western Conference All-Star Team as a starter in 1993. Murph also set a single season record for assists in a season for a rookie, with 224.
In his well seasoned career, G. Murph has lead his team to numerous division titles, conference titles, and finals titles. He was voted to his 8th consecutive All-Star Game as a starter in 2001. Murph ranks among the top 2 in almost every team statistical category and is the all time Team and League leader in Rebounds (10,921) and Assists (9,951.)
